The New Job, An Interview, Snow, and Baseball...

The coffee job has gone by the wayside and given way to the new "office job".  I'm not sure which was more constricting.  For a musician and educator who just wants to get to grad school, these "straight" gigs are way too claustrophobic.  I'm not sure how other people survive in a tight one room environment, but it's definitely not how I want to spend the rest of my working life.  I guess I just need excess room to wave my arms and blow my horn.  It will come soon...just have to be patient and put in the time...

So, that being said, I've been working at this office downtown for the last three days. It's pretty cool when there isn't a mountain of paper work to overcome.  Being someone's office assistant is way too overrated and trying to keep up with their monotony on a daily basis is already driving me crazy.  At it's core, the company is just a wholesale distributor for goods from around the country.  The only catch is that they help to design, refine, and print logos on everything from apparel to coffee mugs and pens.  The cool thing: we get everything at cost. (Totally sweet!)  I've already been eying some choice apparel for the fall/winter season.  Hopefully it will come through and I'll have some sweet threads at low low costs.  (Always a good thing!)

There is one last interview to which I'm going on Thursday.  This one is for a position that truly is right up my alley.  Its for a teen center in a town about 45 minutes away and it sounds like something for which I'd be perfect.  Working with teens is something with which I've had years of experience.  Though I'm not sure about the hours at this point, if they prove to be flexible with my rehearsal schedule I may end up taking that job.  I just hope that everything works out one way or the other.  Keep your fingers crossed...

The first snow happened today and it was pretty cool.  Even though I could care less for it, I suppose it's time for it to hit here in our little mountain town.  I'm sure there's nothing I can do about it and that there is plenty more to come...uuugghhh....

Oh ya, one last item.  Game 1 of the world series tonight in NYC.  Go Yankees!!!

Ciao!

Ugh. Straight gigs...
We do what we have to
but, still....
Good luck. I hope the teen center job works out. Teens can be a handful! I'll only be one for one more week : ]
